Adaptogens

What is an adaptogen?

The term adaptogen originated in the 1960s. Adaptogens are a unique class of botanicals that may help balance and restore the body.

The latest adaptogen definition is a nontoxic substance and especially a natural or plant extract that increases the body’s ability to resist the damaging effects of stress and promote or restore normal physiological functioning.

Therefore, an easy way to describe an adaptogen is a natural substance that helps the body “adapt” to stress.

Adaptogenic properties are expected to support, balance and restore the body from physical, mental and emotional stressors. In addition to supporting a healthy stress response, adaptogens are consumed for a variety of health benefits, including:

  • Increased energy
  • Vitality
  • Healthy Digestion
  • To support a healthy immune response
  • An increased cogitative state.

THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF STRESS:

  1. Acute stress: Short-term mental or physical stress that comes from an obvious trigger.
  2. Episodic stress: This is sustained acute stress, often from repeated exposure to acute stressors.
  3. Chronic stress: Long-term stress that often affects both mental and physical health, often because of ongoing issues or situations.

Unfortunately, with modern stressors, many find themselves out of balance and in need of additional support to restore balance. Adaptogens have been shown to reduce the intensity and impact of stressors. Adaptogens influence the central nervous system, immune functions, and may also impact metabolic regulators including hormones, neuropeptides, nitric oxide, cytokines, etc, that influence the body’s ability to respond and re-balance.

Products such as KSM-66 Ashwagandha, Sensoril® Ashwagandha and PrimaVie® Shilajit and RhodioLife Rhodiola support increased energy, vitality, and relaxation and subjected to clinical studies in multiple clinical trials, resulting in a range of health benefits that restore and rebalance the body.

However, stress is not the only thing adaptogens give us; they have been used in Ayurveda and Chinese medicine for thousands of years to promote longevity, enhance vitality, support a healthy immune response and enhance focus to help reduce everyday stress and fatigue.

Tier One Promise

When we look to produce a product, one key thing has to be quality, and that starts with the ingredients. We look for the best companies who have full management of their products from the relationship with the growers to long-standing relationships with local partners that guarantee a stable and long-term supply of the highest quality resulting in No batch-to-batch concerns.

We choose our suppliers carefully because adulteration is a serious problem in the botanical supply chain, with regular reports of inferior products passed off as high-quality extracts and of plant materials being tainted or ‘bulked’ out with lookalikes. Of course, it would be cheaper and easier to buy from a wholesaler but therein lies the problem, no chain supply quality assurance given, or in some cases, expected. Tier One stands by our suppliers because we know what we seek is what they supply and we are proud to be associated with them. We source the ingredients and have all supplements manufactured exclusively for us and in turn, you.
